Pest Proofing Mesh

Following these steps will improve your rat catching success rate

1 - Choose The Best Rodent Mesh

froboo Rodent proof mesh has small 6mm holes to stop rats and mice getting through. The wires are 0.65mm which will prevent rodents from chewing through the wire. This wire mesh can be used to seal up any holes, gaps and vents like air brinks in your property to prevent rodents from entering.

2 - Rodent Proof Shed

Rats and mice are constantly seeking a nice dry space to make a nest and the garden shed makes a perfect home for them. Sheds need airflow underneath to stop them getting damp and this allows the rodents to get underneath the shed base. Firstly you can prevent this by digging a trench around the shed. Secure and wrap the wire mesh around the bottom of the shed and bury the bottom of the mesh in the trench. The wooden shed base can be covered in wire mesh and this will stop them chewing a way in from underneath.

3 - Rodent Proof Compost Bin

If rats are already present in your garden then the compost bin might attract them as they will happily feed on potato and other vegetable peelings. Wooden compost bins can be made rodent proof by lining the inside walls and base with froboo rodent mesh. Rats will not be able to chew through the 0.65mm wire mesh to access the food waste. Keeping your compost bin moist will discourage mice and rats as they tend to like warm, dry places like sheds for nesting.

4 - Rodent Proof Air Bricks and Wall Vents

Can rats get through air bricks? Rats can get through small holes of around 2cm so check for any damage to the air brick and cover if required. Mice can get through even smaller holes of around 7mm this is the width of a pencil, so if you have problem with mice then you should cover all external airbricks and vents. This is easy to do using froboo rodent mesh as the wire mesh can be cut to shape using strong scissors or tin snips. You can use the rodent mesh fixing clips supplied or stick to the wall using an all weather silicone (not supplied).
